Last Night’s Dreams

So, last night I had a few dreams. Tell me what you think.

The goose and the vodka bottle

In the first dream, I was walking around downtown when some guy came up and told me I had a loan I hadn’t paid off. I didn’t believe him, and I got real anxious.

Then I was in a smoothie shop. It was really healthy, and I asked for the detox smoothie.

“Good choice,” they said.

All of a sudden, I was in a car with my ex-boyfriend Justin, going to buy cocaine from our friend Matt. Seth ended up being there, too.

There was one line left. They said it might be bad, that it could kill you, and somebody had to try it.

“Not me,” I said. “I don’t want any.”

Seth did it, and then we weren’t sure if he had died. I didn’t think he had, but Justin thought he did. Somehow, we just kept going about our merry way and ended up in an apartment—or some house-type thing we had gotten somewhere along the way.

We were sitting there thinking Seth might have died. I guess his dad was inside or something. Anyway, there was drinking going on, and Justin wanted cocaine. He wanted me to go get it for him.

“No. I don’t even want to do this. Why would I go get this for you?”

He kept hounding me and hounding me, making me feel bad about myself and saying mean things. Finally, I started crying, and I was like, “No.”

Then, all of a sudden, a goose walked by with a long line attached to its foot and a SKYY vodka bottle on the other end.

“Oh no. I’ve got to get that off that goose.”

Justin was like, “No, don’t worry about it.”

The goose went into this mucky pond, full of goose poop, and disappeared underwater. I couldn’t see it anymore, so I went into the water and waited there for a bit. Then I walked up onto a little island in the middle of the pond.

The goose followed me up there, and I easily took off the line that was stuck to its foot. It went on about its way with the others.

When I walked back up to where Justin was, Seth was there.

“Oh, you didn’t die.”

“No,” he said. “It was just laced with something.”

In the dream, whatever it was had made him look like he’d died. At first, he didn’t seem to care that we hadn’t missed him. Then he seemed to notice that about Justin, but I was like, “Bro, I knew you hadn’t died. I knew it was some kind of weird trick.”

Then I went to get in my car, and it was gone.

I went back inside, and Justin said, “That’s what you get for leaving your keys in the car all the time. Somebody probably just drove off with it.”

I felt stuck.

And I woke up.

The fifth floor

In another dream, I had just moved into an apartment on the fourth floor. It was okay, you know. Apparently, all the apartments looked alike, so they asked me to move to the fifth floor.

“Okay, why not?”

But when I moved upstairs, there were wooden beams coming down and getting in the way. They made the place feel really claustrophobic.

I was like, “I cannot live here.”

By then, I had already moved all my stuff in, so I was going to need somebody to help me move it back out.

That was really it for that dream. It was so hot, though. My whole body felt hot.

The little boy in the souvenir shop

Then I remembered another dream. I was shopping, maybe with a couple of friends—I’m not sure—in a store like Hallmark.

There was a couple with a little boy, buying souvenirs from their trip to Charleston. They were telling me about all the places they had gone. They had a list and were showing me where they’d been.

This little boy was the cutest, sweetest little boy. He was probably four or five, and we became like best friends. We were goofing off and laughing, having the best time. His dad played along with us, and his mom was so nice.

It just felt so good.

Then he put on a kilt he’d gotten somewhere along their trip. It came with a little hat, and all of a sudden, my mom appeared. She put on the hat and started playing around and laughing with us.

It was a lot of fun.

Then it was time for them to go. His mom showed me that they still had a few days left on their trip—or maybe even a week or two. They were heading to Myrtle Beach or somewhere like that.

She took pictures of me and the little boy.

“Show off how close y’all are. Show your friendship.”

So we were hugging, and I was holding him up in the air. Then, all of a sudden, he had a little, little brother, and we were putting him in the pictures, too.

It was just real cute.

Kidney beans at my parents’ house

In another dream, Justin was staying with me at my parents’ house. I think my dad might have been there. Myers might have been there. Ellis might have been there.

We had come in late the night before, and I guess Justin had gone into the refrigerator and eaten the kidney beans my mom had made for their dinner.

I also remember putting in a tampon, which is real weird because I don’t even have my period anymore.

They thought it was weird that Justin was there.

So, that’s another one.

Those are the dreams I can remember right now. I’m sure some more will pop into my head. Tell me what you think—the symbolism, or just what you make of it all.
