You worry about one thing, and you worry about everything. I am a strong believer in that.
I’ve been watching the world for a minute now, and as I’ve grown and learned more about life—and more about myself—I’ve realized that one of the first places worry seems to enter is through money.
Financial worry.
And interestingly enough, I personally have no reason to be sitting around worrying about money. Yet my mind can still go there.
Because money is everywhere. We hear about it constantly.
Do we have enough? Are we making enough? Where is it coming from? Where is it going? Can we make it to the next paycheck? Can we pay the rent? What about groceries? College? Retirement? The unexpected thing that breaks next Tuesday?
Life is expensive. I’m not denying that.
But I have noticed something:
You can have a worry spiral just as easily as you can have a gratitude spiral.
One worried thought creates another.
Money turns into work. Work turns into the future. The future turns into your family. Your family turns into your health. Your health turns into whether you’re doing enough with your life.
And suddenly, you’ve gone from thinking about the electric bill to questioning your entire existence.
That’s the worry spiral.
I was at the gym today talking about abundance. We had just had the 10/10 portal, and I was talking about good things coming, trusting life, trusting what is unfolding—and somehow money came up.
And I said, “We don’t need to worry about money.”
Now, I realize how that sounds.
Who is this crazy lady telling me not to worry about money? Does she know how expensive my life is?
Yes. Life is expensive. And it does not appear to be getting cheaper.
But I also genuinely believe that when I need something, somehow, some way, what I need will present itself.
And that doesn’t necessarily mean a pile of cash is going to fall out of the sky.
Abundance doesn’t always arrive looking like money.
It might arrive as an idea. A person. An opportunity. A job. A favor. A connection.
Something you already own. Something you suddenly realize you can create. Something someone teaches you. A door you didn’t even know existed until it opened.
Sometimes the financial support isn’t the money itself. Sometimes it’s the thing that eventually creates the money.
You have to be awake enough to recognize what you’re receiving.
I simply cannot believe that God, the universe, Source—whatever name you give the power greater than yourself—dropped us onto Earth solely so we could spend the entire experience worrying about our bank accounts.
I don’t believe that’s why we’re here.
I like to think we got dropped onto Earth to attend an Earth party.
We came here to learn. To love. To screw things up. To figure things out. To meet people. To lose people. To laugh until we can’t breathe.
To have our hearts broken. To have them put back together. To experience all these strange, beautiful, painful, hilarious earthly things.
And somewhere along the way, we invented a system of money and then allowed that system to occupy an enormous amount of space in our minds.
So here’s something I’m experimenting with:
Procrastinate your money worries.
Seriously. We’re always being told not to procrastinate. Well, I am giving you permission to procrastinate this.
When the money worry comes in, tell it:
Nope. Not today. I’ll worry about you tomorrow.
Then tomorrow comes.
Actually, I’m busy. Let’s try Wednesday.
Keep pushing it off.
I’m not saying don’t pay your bills. I’m not saying don’t make a budget. I’m not saying ignore reality or stop taking care of your responsibilities.
Handle what actually needs to be handled.
But the worrying? Procrastinate the hell out of that.
Because worrying about a bill does not pay the bill.
Worrying about next month does not create next month’s money.
And spending every peaceful moment calculating what could possibly go wrong financially means you’re paying for something twice—once with your money and once with your peace.
Try going one day without entertaining a money worry.
If money crosses your mind and there is an actual action to take, take it.
If there isn’t?
“Nope. Not today.”
Return to your life. Breathe. Look around.
Notice what you already have. Notice what is arriving.
Notice the ideas, people, opportunities, resources, and little miracles that might not look like abundance at first glance.
Trust that you are supported while still participating in your own life. Trust that there are possibilities you cannot see yet. Trust that you don’t have to solve every future problem today.
And remind yourself:
Money flows to me effortlessly. What I need finds its way to me. I am supported. I am provided for. I have enough for today.
Then get out of the worry spiral. You’ve got an Earth party to attend.
