I just had the most fabulous Reiki session, and I swear, every time I leave Reiki, I think, why aren’t we all doing this?
I love Reiki. I’m obsessed with it.
There is something so cool about lying down, getting quiet, shutting out all the noise of the physical world for a minute, and just seeing what comes through.
And I happen to have the BEST Reiki master. Her name is Aimee. I love her to death, and she is crazy cool.
Before our sessions, we always talk. Today we talked about Sedona, everything that has been shifting in my life, and this feeling I had out there that was so different for me:
I finally felt like I was here.
Not just physically here.
Here here.
Like, Okay. I’m on Earth. I’m in this body. I’m living this life. And I’m actually okay with being here.
That realization has stayed with me.
So today we decided to have a little fun with the session and explore past lives—to see what, if anything, came through.
Well.
Apparently, Brooks has been BUSY.
At one point, Aimee saw me as a polar bear.
A POLAR BEAR.
Honestly? Obsessed.
And apparently, I had cubs. Even more interesting, that was the only life she saw where I actually had children and had that traditional little family unit.
Then there was another life where I died in childbirth. The child survived, but I didn’t. And there was something about that story that struck me—not necessarily because I need to know whether every detail is literal, but because of what it brought up in me.
Because in this life, motherhood has had its own complicated story for me.
Then we went even farther out.
Apparently, in another life I was a Blue in an Atlantean world, but I wasn’t actually from their tribe.
Basically, even in Atlantis I was like:
“Hi. Love you guys. Still not technically from here.”
Which made me laugh because… of course.
Different tribe. Different origin. Different family.
And here I am in this life, adopted.
There has always been some part of me that has felt a little different. Not necessarily wrong. Not less than. Just… like I arrived through a different door.
Maybe that’s why one of the phrases that kept coming to me afterward was:
Different doesn’t mean displaced.
Maybe I’ve spent parts of my life trying to figure out where I belong when the deeper lesson is that I belong wherever I am.
And then—we got to the caveman.
Because apparently in another life somebody decided I needed to mate with a caveman.
And Past-Life Brooks was apparently EXACTLY like Current-Life Brooks:
“No, thank you. I’m good.”
They were like, You have to choose.
And I was like, Fine. But I’m picking him.
So apparently, I chose the tall blond, blue-eyed caveman.
Because evidently, even across lifetimes, I have maintained two things:
free will and a type.
I cannot make this shit up.
And that’s what I love about experiences like this.
Do I need to walk out of Reiki and prove that I was literally a polar bear?
No.
Do I need archaeological evidence of my caveman boyfriend?
Absolutely not.
That’s not really the point for me.
The point is curiosity.
The point is noticing what resonates.
The point is allowing myself to explore the possibility that maybe this little human lifetime isn’t the entirety of the story.
Maybe some things we carry are older than we realize.
Maybe some attractions, fears, instincts, patterns, connections, and feelings of I’ve been here before come from somewhere we can’t fully explain.
Or maybe the stories simply give us another way of understanding ourselves right now.
Either way, if it opens my heart instead of closing my mind, I’m willing to explore it.
And that is exactly how I felt when I got up today.
Open.
Clean.
Clear.
My heart felt full and alive, like it was pumping love through my entire body. I felt this crystalline energy running through my veins. I felt lighter. Cleansed. Almost like somebody had taken a spiritual pressure washer to my insides.
And I thought:
This is the good stuff.
Not because somebody handed me all the answers, but because, for an hour, I became curious again.
I got quiet enough to wonder.
I got still enough to listen.
I got playful enough to consider that maybe there is more to me than the story I already know.
That is one of the gifts Reiki gives me.
You don’t have to believe exactly what I believe to try something that helps you connect more deeply with yourself.
You don’t have to understand energy to notice when yours feels different.
You don’t have to believe you’ve lived a thousand lives to become more present in this one.
And you definitely don’t have to have been a polar bear.
Although, apparently, I highly recommend it.
Get curious. Get quiet. Get weird.
Try the Reiki.
Lie down.
Close your eyes.
Let somebody work with your energy.
See what comes up.
See what leaves.
See what stays.
Because sometimes healing isn’t about figuring everything out.
Sometimes healing is simply making enough space inside yourself for something new to come through.
And today?
I feel 100%.
Heart full. Energy clean. Love pumping. Feet on Earth.
And whether I’ve been a polar bear, a Blue, a cavewoman, or a hundred other things before this—
I’m Brooks this time around.
And I’m starting to think that’s exactly who I’m supposed to be.
